Can The DNA Test Be Done While Pregnant?

Updated: Apr 23, 2022

Yes! The DNA test can be done while the mother is at least 7 weeks pregnant

The Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity (NIPP) DNA Test

Pregnancy can be such a beautiful experience, but having doubts about paternity can be stressful for everyone. Doing the non-invasive paternity DNA test while pregnant is possible, and highly accurate, and can be done as soon as 7 weeks into the pregnancy. Our lab partner maintains strict standards of accountability for prenatal DNA paternity testing, and they are the first and only lab to offer a NIPP test that is AABB-accredited.

Previously, the only tests available were amniocentesis and CVS (Chorionic Villus Sampling), which are invasive tests that may cause miscarriage. The NIPP test is a completely safe, non-invasive prenatal paternity test.

How Is The NIPP DNA Test Done?

The non-invasive prenatal paternity DNA test requires only a blood sample drawn from the mother and swabbing the cheek from the alleged father. This test is safe for mommy and baby, as there is no risk to the pregnancy. Follow these easy steps:

  1. Call or WhatsApp our internationally certified DNA Consultants at +18763130577 for a FREE Consultation, or to schedule an appointment for the mother and father

  2. At the collection centre, the mother’s blood is drawn and the father’s DNA is collected by swabbing the cheek

  3. The samples are sent to our lab partner for testing. Since the DNA from the baby is contained in the mother’s blood stream, the lab is able to isolate the baby’s DNA from the mother’s, in order to determine the DNA profile for the unborn child. That DNA profile is then compared with both the father’s and the mother’s, and a probability of paternity is established
